The Checkmate Chess Set has been called a "museum quality masterpiece". Designed by a master sculptor, each solid cast piece weighs an average of 10 ounces. The King stands just over five inches tall. Finished in antique silver and 24k gold, the pieces meet on a marble playing field. Each square is polished and beveled, and measures 2 5/8". The marble is bordered by an inset frame of antique brass. The board itself is framed in select hardwood, with a stained mahogany finished. Without pieces, the board weighs about 32 pounds.
